MicroDuct
Underground / Outside Plant

The MicroDuct Solution starts with the MicroDuct channel. The simple but rugged design is offered in several configurations to meet just about any requirement you may have for installing a fiber optic network almost anywhere.

Shown to the left are three configurations of the MicroDuct cable. Made with two layers
of polyethylene, one layer of black MDPE and one layer of HPDE to support its unique shape and increase its watertight characteristics.

Installation of MicroDuct

Installation of MicroDuct is easy and simple. It requires minimal equipment and a smaller work crew as compared to traditional trenching methods, making it very cost effective. One of the great benefits to the MicroDuct Solution over traditional trenching methods is its minimal disruption to traffic flow as seen in the image to the right.

Distribution

Distribution of MicroDuct is accomplished with the use of standardized distribution boxes.

Distribution boxes, as shown to the left, are water-tight and provide a convenient means to
expand your existing MicroDuct Network or allow distribution from a single point to multiple points within your planned network.

Watertight and airtight connectors are used to keep the entire network intact to allow for fast installation of the Air Blown Fiber cables.

Air Blown Fiber (ABF) Installation

Once your MicroDuct Network has been installed in the roadbed, installation of the fiber-optic cable is accomplished using a Breeze Machine. Special fiber optic cable known as Air Blown Fiber or ABF is inserted into the MicroDuct channel and "blown" through the network. A reliable Ring or Point to Point fiber connection is accomplished quickly.

This process is relatively simple and saves time, should you wish to expand an existing network. If your network plan has allowed for expansion, new cable is simply "blown" through your network through the existing MicroDuct channel. There is no need to pull everything up and start over. It's just that simple.
