Position: Fiber Optics Installation Technician

NATURE OF WORK

The Fiber Optics Installation Technician will be responsible for installing fiber optic cable to meet contractual requirements. This job requires the ability to read and decipher maps and/or charts for laying fiber optic cable while avoiding utility lines and underground hazards. The individual will be expected to operate installation equipment including concrete slab saw, and trenching equipment to allow insertion of cabling systems.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

·        Reading and deciphering of maps and/or charts for the laying of fiber optic cable while avoiding utility lines and underground hazards

·        Installation of fiber optic products and related fiber optic equipment below and above the surface using the appropriate equipment for the site

·        Prepare junction boxes to terminate fiber optic runs

·        Travel is required (perdiem reimbursed expenses)

KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

·        Knowledge of state and local requirements for installation of subsurface utility lines

·        3-5 years of commercial construction experience

·        1-2 years of electrician experience

·        2-3 years of excavation and /or utility installation

·        CDL required

·        Must pass background check and drug testing
